Why You Should Invest in an Airplane Power Adapter

February 10, 2012

There are many advantages in having a power adapter that powers electronic equipment in flight. Invest in an airplane power adapter for convenience, practicality and flexibility while you travel.

Before commercial airliners had power adapters available at airplane seats, a traveler using an electronic device like a laptop or entertainment device would have to take one or more backup batteries along on the trip to ensure an ongoing source of power. Today, on-board airplane power adapters eliminate the need to lug heavy and bulky batteries along, and save valuable space in carry-on luggage for more important items. This makes having a power adapter a convenient and practical way to provide power to your computer or other electronic product while in the air, especially during long flights. In addition, there are adapters that have connectors to power a variety of different electronic devices, adding flexibility to your in-flight power needs as well.

The time to take advantage of an airplane power adapter begins when making a flight reservation. Most online travel reservation systems allow travelers to choose their seats on a plane, and seats that have a power connection are clearly identified. In addition to selecting a seat with a power connection, also note the type of electricity that is provided (either AC or DC) to ensure compatibility with your power adapter. Airplane power connections for power adapters are either standard 110-volt AC electricity, or EmPower® DC voltage, which is typically 15 volts with a total of 75 watts of power.

Airplane power adapters have become mandatory equipment for business and leisure fliers traveling with electronic equipment, and for good reason. Having a consistent source of power for an electronic device truly adds convenience, flexibility and practicality that far exceed having to lug heavy and bulky batteries.

  • My airplane power adapter is a lifesaver. I recommend it for anyone who needs to have reliable power when they are flying. I am a businessman who travels quite a bit, and I need to be able to get work done while my plane is in the air. My adapter allows me to do just that. - dontreor34 on 3/23/2012
